As it’s Christmas time now is the perfect time for dusting off the tripod and doing a bit of night photography. The main reason being, you can get quite creative in what you shoot. Christmas lights, bokeh and light trails are all perfect ways to add something special to a photo in the month of December. This was why I decided to bare the cold and put on my woolly thinking hat!

I drive past this roundabout ever morning I go to work, however in the morning it’s some what different – the traffic is hardly moving! Fast forward to 7pm, the lights are switched on the tree and down the road, traffic is moving a little more free. Ideal time for a photograph….especially when it’s some night photography!

Long Exposure Magic

Getting the right position was key to this photo as well as waiting for the right time. The large light trail is actually a bus creating the orange and white glow off the top deck. I was rather lucky to capture that within my photo, otherwise I would of had to wait a good 30-40 minutes till the next to travel my way.

Night Photography

So get out there and see what you can create, who knows what will happen in front of the lens!
